ham2ham Community

What is ham2ham.com?

ham2ham.com is a community platform for ham radio amateurs. With ham2ham.com you can communicate with radio operators in all over the world via internet to support the amateur radio communication via HF, VHF, UHF, satellites and more.
ham2ham.com is not amateur radio via internet, is not a new forum about amateur radio and is not a new DX-spot system, even though, you can use it like this. It is a supplement to the normal amateur radio communication to help to make more qualitative contacts via air communication.

What can I do with ham2ham.com?

With ham2ham.com you can...

... active participate in sending amateur relevant information to other ham radio operators in all over the world.

... give information about Satellite status, ISS mode, new software, band openings, meteor scatter propagation and much much more.

... make appointments with other radio operators around the world and find partners for testing your equipment, new or rarely used digital modes, find partners for EME, ATV or other high frequency operations in your area and stay in contact during hard conditions.

... give information about your DX- or IOTA-activity to hams which are eager for news.

... stay in contact via internet during your radio activity on the air. If you lose the contact to your partner, you can change information via internet to make a new appointment or to give some other important information.

... control activity on the bands without turning and turning around the frequencies.

... you can forget your long list of bookmarks in your browser to find some information in what you are interested.

... see the status of amateur radio satellites or ISS.

... SWL's can communicate with a radio station and giving rapports during the QSO. In this way, SWL's can stay much closer to amateur radio activity.

... look for partners for a evening local chat on the band.

... change information with your SSTV-QSO-Partner during transmitting or receiving a new picture.

... YL's and XYL's on the band.

... give or find some information about new amateur radio software.

... just have a nice chat with other ham's around the world when you are disadvantaged with antennas or power or the propagation not enable communication via radio.

How can I use ham2ham.com?

I have no amateur radio license. Can I take part in the community?

Everybody can take part in the community, with or without any license. Log in with your SWL-number or with a nickname instead of a callsign.

I must "log in" to take part in the community?

If you want to read only, you don't need to log in. You can change to all rooms of your interest.
If you want to take part in the communication, you must log in. This identifies the author of an entry and helps a little bit to prevent abuse of the system.
If your browser accept cookies, you will be identified automatically when you visit the website again.

I logged in but can not write?

Your browser must accept cookies. (this will be changes in the future)

Which room do I select?

The website is like a chat or shoutbox system. There are different rooms of interest. You can stay online in any of these rooms and can read or write information. If you are interested in EME contacts, go to the EME room.
Depending on the refresh time, the page will show you the last entered information.

Can I stay in different rooms at the same time?

Yes of course. You can read and write in more than one room at the same time. Use your right mouse button instead of the left one (MS-Windows) to open a new window in your browser. In this way you can open more than one room.

What is the meeting room?

If you are not sure in which room your partner goes, you can leave a message in the meeting room. That makes sure, that everybody knows, where you are.

What is the 'all in one' room?

In the 'all in one' room you can read all messages from all the other rooms, except from the -00- rooms. There you can control the activities in all rooms at a look.

What is the -00- room? (not opened all)

Like in every public building you have at least a -00- room on every floor. This room has special features.
Here you can talk with somebody more secluded or more intimated and more fluent. But like in all public -00- rooms there can be listeners of your conversation. The difference is that you can see only the last 10 messages instead of 50. The refresh time is always 30 seconds for a fluent conversation. Furthermore all entries will be flushed 15 minutes after the last message input. The toilet will be cleaned for the next users.
These rooms are for small talks with topics of few public interests, what is not a topic of other rooms.

What figures will be for the future?

Of course, there is a UNDO-List with lot of ideas.
You will see who is in which room.
You will change the display colour, like in some transceivers.
Black board for long-term messages.
...and other gimmicks

I'm missing a room of interest?

Well, we are so lucky to have a hobby with a lot of different interests, organisations and what ever.
If you think, there is something of global interest within our hobby, please let me know and I will open a new room.
